Great Mansfield Clean-up?
The Great Mansfield Clean-up is a special day that has been set aside for Mansfield residents to come together and help remove the trash that litters our roadsides and public spaces. Volunteer clean-up crews will fan out across our neighborhoods on Saturday, May 3rd, from 9:00am to 12:00pm to collect litter and leave Mansfi eld spic-and-span. By the end of the day, our community will not only be physically cleaner, but more close-knit and welcoming, too. So take pride in your town and volunteer to help!
How will it work?
Each of Mansfield’s six voting precincts will have its own team of clean-up volunteers. A precinct leader will direct each team as it collects trash along designated routes. The town’s trash removal contractor, Waste Management, will provide special bags that volunteers can use to collect litter. The Mansfield Department of Public Works will coordinate the removal of the bags, as well as any items too large to fit into bags, such as tires.
How can I help?

Hire a Teen Brighten the Future
We are pleased to share with you the kickoff of our 2008 Hire A Teen, Brighten the Future job campaign. This is an exciting collaborative effort within the region to match pre-screened youth to job openings provided by employers. As an employer, you are integral partner in the campaign’s success.
As a service to employers, all youth must complete 3 hours of work readiness skills before being referred to you for an interview. You have complete control over which youth employees you hire. Better yet, each youth is assisted by a Career Specialist to work with them to overcome challenges and ensure they are meeting your expectations. This campaign allows area employers an opportunity to recruit youth employees, with no recruitment costs and with on-going support, as appropriate. Furthermore, it provides a resource for employers to meet their current and future staffing needs and to grow experienced workers.
Work experience for youth opens career pathway opportunities, engages youth in the local business community, and provides a positive and productive transition into adulthood.
There are many ways to pledge your summer job openings to the campaign:
- Complete the enclosed job opening form/donation form
- Wait for one of our volunteers to contact you on the day of the campaign, April 8th. On this day, community leaders will be volunteering their time to call on businesses and community members for pledges.
- Call Christine LaChance, Executive Director, Attleboro Area School-to-Career Partnership at 508-222-5150, extension 307 to pledge directly.
If you do not have a summer job opening, consider contributing a tax-deductible donation to help subsidize youth wages. A donation of $150 will pay one youth for one week of work in a community service project, however any amount will help support these youth.
We appreciate your partnership in this important effort. When students make a successful transition from school to work, we all benefit - our community, our economy, our workplace, and, most of all, our youth.
